In short
Sage Iris collects no data about you. It has no internet access at all: Android doesn't let it reach the internet, because it never asks to. There's no account, no ads, no analytics and no crash reporting. Everything Sage Iris knows stays on your phone.
What stays on your phone
Sage Iris keeps your choices so it can work: which apps are on your home screen, unlisted or set aside; your look; what you're making time for; your aims; and which apps are back for now. It also keeps your key:
- Your PIN is stored only as a salted, one-way hash, so the PIN itself is never kept.
- One-time codes, if you set them up, use a secret that Sage Iris shows as a QR code while you set them up, for your authenticator app to scan. Sage Iris keeps it on your phone; it's never sent anywhere.
None of this is included in Android's backups or in transfers to a new phone. It describes this phone only. Uninstalling Sage Iris removes all of it.
What Sage Iris uses on your phone, and why
Each of these is used on the phone itself. Nothing is sent anywhere.
| Permission | What it's used for |
|---|---|
| Usage access | Reads Android's own record of app use, the one Digital Wellbeing uses, to show your screen time, keep track of your aims, and notice when a set-aside app comes to the front. |
| Accessibility service (optional) | Notices only when a different app comes to the front, so a set-aside app can be covered right away. It can't read what's on the screen or what you type. |
| Notification access (optional) | Checks which app each notification comes from, and clears it if that app is set aside. It never reads a notification's title or text, and keeps nothing. |
| Notifications | Sage Iris's own notes, such as the countdown while an app is back for a while. |
| Wallpaper | Sets the wallpaper that matches your chosen look. |
| Run at startup | Starts Sage Iris's quiet work again after your phone restarts or Sage Iris updates. |
| Change secure settings (only if allowed from a computer) | Turns Android's grayscale on and off for you. Android grants it only from a computer, during setup. |
| Device management (optional) | Only if you set Sage Iris up to look after the phone, from a computer: Android's device management lets it put set-aside apps away, hold new installs, and keep your choices steady. |
Sharing
Sage Iris doesn't share, sell or transfer any data, because it doesn't collect any. A trusted person who keeps your key, or reads you a one-time code, never sees your apps, your screen time or anything else you do.

If you email us, we use your message and address only to reply, and to add you to a test if you ask to join one. We don't share them.
This website
sageiris.com uses no cookies and no analytics. Its fonts come from Google Fonts, so your browser asks Google for them, and like any website, the service that hosts it may keep standard logs of requests.
Children
Sage Iris doesn't collect information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date. If Sage Iris ever needed to collect anything, it would ask first, and this page would say what and why.
